What is Chlamydia?
- Chlamydia is a bacteria and is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STI)
- Chlamydia affects both men and women
- 1 in 14 young people who are sexually active have Chlamydia.
- Most people are not even aware they have Chlamydia as they do not notice any symptoms
- Those who do show symptoms, only do so 1-3 weeks after getting infected with Chlamydia
- Left untreated, Chlamydia can lead to long term health problems including infertility (not being able to have a baby) and pain in the lower abdomen (below your belly button)
